Setting

If you’re in the mood to spoil yourself and forget about real life for a while, then step into the majesty and wonder of this magnificent 350,000-acre reserve in Singita Grumeti. Situated along the route of the annual wildebeest and zebra migration — frequently named the most natural spectacle on earth — the Singita Sasakwa Lodge Grumeti Reserves Tanzania boasts an ambience infused with traditional Tanzanian warmth. Located high on a hill and welcoming sweeping vistas of the Serengeti, the lodge offers a more gentle wildlife adventure than some, thanks to its setting slightly removed from the thick of the safari landscape. With a peaceful, sophisticated and homely ambience, the Singita Sasakwa Lodge Grumeti Reserves Tanzania offers a safari experience of the highest comfort.

Look & Feel

The design concept at the lodge is a fascinating mix of colonial decadence and earthy Africa. Authentic European style is abound in the main stone manor house, with sweeping verandas, stone walls and high ceilings that frame the original artworks and grand silver pieces that have been brought from England. This tone of grandeur sets the standard for the spacious private cottages, where the refined European-style blends with a distinctive and highly evocative East African aesthetic. The Singita Sasakwa Lodge Grumeti Reserves Tanzania has olde worlde elegance in abundance, with antique clawfoot bathtubs conveniently positioned in front of huge windows for your viewing pleasure. The finest linens and creature comforts are supplied along with your very own private deck and plunge pool for a luxurious flourish.

“The spa offers sublime, holistic healing treatments that embody the natural essence of Africa.”

Although the Singita Sasakwa Lodge Grumeti Reserves Tanzania is a game lodge, it’s not all about the animals. There is a plethora of activities on offer, meaning you can pass the time between morning and evening safaris enjoying your holiday in all sorts of intriguing ways. The spa offers sublime, holistic healing treatments that embody the natural essence of Africa to revive and nourish weary souls. Secret

Senior Sous Chef Michael Matera is another one of the Singita staff who has a great backstory. As the eldest son in the family, it was his responsibility to provide and it was while he was employed as a grounds attendant at another Singita residence that the chef noticed how hard he worked. He gave him a job in the kitchen but Michael could only cook staff meals due to his limited English language. After working overtime for many hours, he was rewarded with English classes in the city of Arusha; on his return to the lodge, he started work in the guest kitchen.

A few years ago, his hard work was recognised when he was awarded the accolade of Tanzanian Chef of the Year. He describes how intrigued he was by his job, as it was the first time he had seen such exotic seafood as lobster and prawns, and he was inspired to learn and develop his career as a chef.
