Nestled in the heart of northern Tanzania’s deep, untouched landscapes, the Singita Faru Faru Lodge Grumeti Reserves Tanzania is a quirky, unconventional and truly stunning safari lodge. This African gem boasts an enviable location from which some of the finest game viewings in the world can be enjoyed and offers a front-row seat at the annual wildebeest migration. With the influences of a traditional botanist’s camp featuring alongside a fresh, contemporary atmosphere, the Singita Faru Faru Lodge Grumeti Reserves Tanzania offers a remote location and absolute comfort.
Look & Feel
Using a contemporary approach themed around the idea of natural simplicity, the lodge is decked out in fresh, natural colours for a sophisticated, informal tone. Faru Faru has nine rooms with elegantly understated furnishings, quirky décor details and private viewing decks. The organic design takes in shades of warm woods and bamboo detail, along with brown, white and khaki shades that fuse beautifully with the outside world. Canvas-roofed rooms flow effortlessly from the huge viewing window that slides open and closed at the touch of a button, to a rustically captivating outdoor shower with stone walls and a view to die for. The overall feel at the Singita Faru Faru Lodge Grumeti Reserves Tanzania is cool and sleek with a hint of playful 1950s African safari thrown into the mix.
“The enticing mix of cool and chic accommodation allows for indulgent comfort just a heartbeat away from nature.”
While the area surrounding the lodge offers world class safari adventures and the location of Faru Faru, on a sloping hill, makes it ideal for all sorts of game viewing, the other features of the lodge are just as outstanding. As with all Singita destinations, the cuisine at Singita Faru Faru Lodge Grumeti Reserves Tanzania has its distinct identity — the contemporary, elegant menu is made up of fresh and natural ingredients with a focus on exquisite, authentic Zanzibari flavours and local seafood. The food acts as a motto for the lodge itself, with a delicate simplicity that beautifully reflects the laid back nature of the destination.
The lodge’s Bush Spa enhances the immersive safari experience with holistic, nourishing treatments designed to complement the absolute solitude of the wilderness. The enticing mix of the chic accommodation in the middle of the wilderness also allows for indulgent comfort just a heartbeat away from nature.
Afternoon tea at the Faru Faru is one of the best parts of the day, where guests can enjoy homemade cakes, sweets and savoury fare before heading out on an evening safari. The tea is also a symbol of Singita’s passion to integrate with the local community. The lodge’s pastry chef, Richard, was born just outside the reserve and fell into life as poacher aged 15 after his lack of formal education left him with few job prospects. He was rescued from this life by the former Wildlife and Community Development Manager of Singita Grumeti, who offered him a job on the condition that he stop poaching. After working his way up the ranks, he is now the lodge’s full-time pastry chef. He has turned his life around and today is a proud member of the Singita family, passing on his knowledge and experience to future generations.
