Offering a relaxing, welcoming ambience, the Singita Ebony Lodge Sabi Sands South Africa occupies an extremely remote location deep in South Africa’s ‘big cat country’. The Lodge stands among huge trees and overlooks the winding Sand River and sweeping plains, embracing the very best of the natural world. The Singita Ebony Lodge Sabi Sands South Africa offers a classic safari experience with your very own piece of South Africa to enjoy and a unique part of the world where sightings of big game are common and leopards are a frequent sight.
Look & Feel
As the original lodge of the Singita brand, the Singita Ebony Lodge Sabi Sands South Africa has its heart and soul rooted in the continent. The classic safari design concept has been revitalised and redesigned with a unique, contemporary interpretation that fuses the greatest elements of the lodge’s homeland with those of the wider world and the animal kingdom. The colonial-style suites offer huge wide-open spaces, where the original walls have been removed to encourage the nature immersion experience through optimum views. The expansive space and warm, cosy detail invites guests to feel nurtured and cosseted, while the bold, bright and cheerful red, brown and gold colours of Africa sit alongside original artifacts and antiques for a local, tribal feel. This blends effortlessly with the distinctive style of an English heritage country home that is expressed through the polished ebony and mahogany woods detail and natural fibres.
“With the guarantee of high-impact game viewing, the lodge beautifully fuses the most exciting safari experiences with a wonderful homely atmosphere.”
The Singita Ebony Lodge Sabi Sands South Africa was the first Lodge to be opened within the Reserve — a pristine piece of land that stretches over thousands of acres owned by the Bailes family — and it certainly set the bar high for future destination hotels. Spread over 18,000 hectares and with the guarantee of high-impact game viewing, the lodge beautifully fuses the most exciting safari experiences with a wonderful homely atmosphere. As such, the Lodge is extremely popular with families, who enjoy the home away from home atmosphere experience. Originally designed as a home, it still feels as such today — comfortable, warm and private, with thoughtful accents such as hand-woven baskets and old brass sitting alongside private plunge pools and magnificent outdoor pavilion decks suspended off the river banks among the trees, as if you are really living alongside the animals.
The private suites at the lodge contain vintage campaign furniture from the Bailes family’s private collection.
