Look & Feel
As the former home of Singita founder Luke Bailes’ grandfather, the lodge has undergone a design revamp with a concept that captures the vivacious spirit and essence of the original lodge and fuses it with a fresh new look that focuses on rich layers and textures. The stone and thatch cottages boast handsome interiors featuring traditional tartans and classic prints against gentle and calming neutral walls. Flagstone floors and country furniture with Shaker simplicity add ambience. The colour palette and materials at Singita Castleton Sabi Sands South Africa are earthy, warm and honest with greys, browns, greens and dried parchment grass colours along with worn leather, linen and bagged washed walls creating an eclectic boutique ambience. The décor fuses nostalgia, romance and the beauty of a bygone era with a rustic, homely tone, industrial design edge, antique furnishings, tribal artefacts and a host of creature comforts such as plush throws and beautiful linens.
“The décor fuses romance and the beauty of a bygone era with a rustic, homely tone and a host of creature comforts.”
The Singita Castleton provides the best of luxury, private living along with a welcoming atmosphere infused with excitement. High-end facilities include the extensive gardens and spa treatment room, while there is ample opportunity to enjoy the experience of Africa up close, not only out in the wilderness on a private guided safari but in the immediate surroundings. The country style kitchen is the centrepiece of the lodge and, as such, there are informal cooking and baking classes readily available to enjoy, allowing guests to smell and taste the real Africa. The Singita Castleton Sabi Sands South Africa provides an unforgettable experience – in a location where you can sit under the sprawling branches of an old fig tree sipping a cold drink and watching elephant gather at the waterhole, it seems that the safari never ends.
While Castleton offers sights of a diverse range of wildlife, wild dog sightings are a bonus and a rare treat. They sometimes rush through on the hunt and if you are lucky, stay awhile so you can witness them in their natural glory.
