Look & Feel
The lodge has featured a calming design scheme since its opening in 1996, and its 2014 refurbishment made sure to retain the original inspirations. Interior spaces are organic and bold, with natural pigments punctuated by intense colour, dramatic art and sculptural shapes. Cues from nature are incorporated alongside Zen principles reflecting the four elements of earth, fire, air and water. Charcoal, bark, bone and copper accents sit alongside dyed, handwoven fabrics creating a sensual African soul experience and a rhythm that beats in harmony with nature.
Dark abstracts, carved sculptural pieces, wrought iron, leather and slabs of solid stone convey the influence of primitive man, tempered by soft, sensual textures from the natural flax bed linen, sheepskin rugs and gentle muted colours. The mood at Singita Boulders Lodge Sabi Sands South Africa is tranquil, bright and optimistic with glass walls welcoming the stark beauty of the outdoors for an organic relationship with nature.
“The game experience in Sabi Sands is renowned worldwide and you are likely to have close encounters with lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, antelope and zebra.”
With a privileged space on the boulder-strewn banks of the Sand River, where big game come to drink, the Singita Boulders Lodge Sabi Sands South Africa is somewhere unique to enjoy safari life. The game experience in Sabi Sands is renowned worldwide and you are likely to have close encounters with lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, antelope, zebra and giraffe. Guest areas have been brought even nearer to the river in a magnificent setting beneath ebony and weeping boer bean trees. In the outdoor dining pavilion above the river you can enjoy cuisine that is sublime in both flavour and texture from a spectacular vantage point. Raw timber decks are suspended at different levels for private dining, while hand-beaten cutlery and hand-thrown pottery on sandblasted driftwood tables complete the lantern-lit, rustic elegance.
This is Africa’s highest-rated Relais & Chateaux lodge, and the sought-after guides offer a great way to experience the surroundings with an interpretative Big 5 photographic safari.
